As a Senior Design Engineer/Technologist, you will serve as an experienced, individual contributor on projects and you will be responsible for providing sound technical solutions to dealers and customers worldwide for their Design-To-Order (DTO) requirements in a manner that will ensure that products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability.

Requirements

Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems (Analytical Thinking).

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology field with 6-8 plus years of experience, or equivalent experience of 10 plus years of progressively responsible job-related experience.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, communicate effectively and to influence others in the work group, dealer personnel and customers.
Demonstrated ability to work on larger scale, more complex assignments and collaborate with other Caterpillar internal and external teams.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the identification, analysis, and resolution of needs and problems for custom projects in the Oil and Gas market
Develop concept and design of complex components, subsystems, and/or processes for customized engine/mechanical and package/generator set solutions
Provide Project Specification review support for dealers and customers
Provide Design-To-Order (DTO) quotes to dealers and internal customers
Communicate technical information to dealers, customers, team members, suppliers, and other units
Support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, dealers, customers, and suppliers on projects and opportunities
Develop and maintain keen understanding of internal and external customer needs
Support definition and value placed on new product features, functional and technical specifications and general product requirements.
Understand and keep current on customer/dealer market and needs and understand how and why decisions are made within their work group and organization.
Apply knowledge of products, technology, industry, etc., in support of Caterpillar, dealer and customer expectations and needs.
Stay abreast of industry and technology changes and relate those changes to Caterpillar, dealer and customer needs.
Work with internal Caterpillar departments to successfully execute order delivery to the dealer and customer.
