The Senior Design Coordinator plays a key role in supporting this high‑performance environment by providing exceptional client service, design team assistance, sales support, and showroom operational excellence. GENERAL OBJECTIVES The Senior Interior Design Coordinator provides sales support and client service to a team of 8 Interior Design Consultants, under the direction of Retail Leadership. Responsibilities include educating prospective customers about Ethan Allen’s complimentary design services, introducing clients to Design Consultants, and assisting with tasks that support overall sales, client satisfaction, and project execution standards. This role is essential to creating a seamless, luxury‑level client experience from beginning to end.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work on a retail schedule that includes weekends and select holidays.
  • Shift Times are from 9:00am – 6:00pm daily except for Sunday (11:30am – 5:00pm).
  • Minimum five (5) years of retail sales experience.
  • Valid driver’s license required or approved alternative transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Professionally greet clients to establish rapport and provide design‑related assistance, including hard and soft accent sales, custom soft fashions, and window coverings.
  • Assist Design Consultants with project development: in home appointments, space planning, product selection, preparing quotes, sketches, renderings, presentations, and providing client hospitality.
  • Lead and/or assist in daily business huddles and weekly training meetings.
  • Stay current on design and color trends to support fashionable, relevant design solutions.
  • Introduce qualified prospects to Design Consultants through in‑person handoff, portfolios, scheduled appointments, and external business development opportunities.
  • Generate proposals and purchase orders using the company point‑of‑sale system, including communicating backorder updates.
  • Maintain proactive client communication regarding appointments, order status, and follow‑through via CRM, phone, and email.
  • Assist in responding to inbound calls and client emails; support Design Center rotation systems during peak periods (weekends, holidays, events).
  • Participate in corporate‑sponsored marketing events and training initiatives.
  • Educate customers about Ethan Allen Platinum financing programs and Furniture Protection plans.
  • Utilize available technologies to support design workflow, client presentations, and customer service.
  • Support Visual Merchandising standards by maintaining showroom displays, design studios, and workshops; assist with stock replenishment, inventory receiving, tagging, barcoding, and quarterly cycle counts.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support including filing, updating reference materials, maintaining project logs, and preparing documentation.
  • Reconcile and process cash transactions, charge card activity, deposits, petty cash, blind cash balancing, and end‑of‑day reporting as required.
  • Follow up on delayed or clerical orders to ensure timely service and resolution for clients and internal teams.
  • Process cancellations, returns, and related transaction adjustments as needed.
  • Coordinate service matters between the Retail Service Center and Design Center teams, ensuring timely updates and follow‑up.
  • Review and monitor open order reports and workroom logs; communicate key actions to design teams.
  • Manage and resolve customer inquiries in accordance with company guidelines, monitoring for recurring issues and communicating root‑cause trends.
  • Intake customer service requests, forward details to the Customer Service Department, and identify unrecorded delivered sales to prevent future occurrences.
  • Identify custom soft‑goods or non‑Ethan Allen product orders and forward documentation to an Order Administrator for processing.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
