This exciting opportunity shall act as a Senior Database Engineer working with multiple Application teams focused on SQL Server on Physical and On-prem Cloud servers. The candidate shall be responsible for maintaining the current SQL Server environments along with working on architecting a plan to migrate the Databases to no-sql cloud infrastructure while pro-actively working on preventing any potential performance issues in non-prod itself (before getting Promoted to Prod). Role involves support for production issues, and participation in an on-call rotation. This opportunity is on a team that is highly visible and plays a major role in advancing Verizon's technology future. We're looking for a DBA who understands Database and Data modeling and is open to learn and work on NoSQL Databases and implement AI where possible. What you’ll be doing... Where you’ll be working In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SQL Server as DBA.
  • Experience with creation, Implementing and Updating SSIS and SSRS.
  • Strong T-sql scripting skills.
  • Experience with migrating the DB’s Between SQL Server and NoSQL.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with Virtualized environments using Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Containerized SQL Server implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Managing SQL Server 2008R2\2016\2019 and 2022 Versions.
  • Working with SSIS and SSRS.
  • Implementing different types of high availability and disaster recovery mechanisms like replication models, log shipping, database mirroring, always on and clustering.
  • Troubleshooting performance issues like Blocking, Deadlocks, parameter sniffing, Long Running and High CPU consuming queries.
  • Implementing Backup, Restore and Disaster Recovery Planning Using Native Local Disk backup to File share and backups to Netbackup Utilities.
  • Handling data migration between SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres and Couchbase.
  • Creating databases and help with table design and index creation based on the data and performance.
  • Working with different types of SQL Server Database Isolation Levels.
  • Using SQL Server Tools like Import/Export Wizard, SQL Query Store, , SQL Profiler, DTA and SQL Query Analyzer.
  • Upgrading and patching of SQL Servers.
  • Working with login creation and understanding the importance of granting the lease required privileges.
  • Working on very large databases along with partitioning and data compression in OLTP and OLAP environments.
  • Debugging and troubleshooting issues using the execution plans and using Query Store.
  • Scripting using T-sql, Python, and Powershell.
  • Creating and maintaining GIT repos and performing code reviews.
  • Creating a culture of inclusion and teamwork through leading by example and always considering how their actions influence the broader team.
