About The Position

Continental Finance Company specializes in credit card options for those consumers with less than perfect credit. We are seeking a Senior Database Engineer to support our Information Technology team. We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with a strong background in Snowflake, Microsoft SQL Server, and AWS. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines, warehouses, and integrations in support of building a new enterprise data platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in data engineering or database development roles.
  • Strong expertise in Snowflake including SnowSQL, SnowPipe, Streams, and performance optimization.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and performance tuning in MS SQL Server.
  • Experience developing and maintaining ETL workflows using SSIS or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, DynamoDB, etc.) for data solutions.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data lake architectures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities across technical and non-technical teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with version control Azure DevOps and CI/CD for data pipelines is a plus.
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages for data processing or automation.
  • Knowledge of data governance, cataloging, and lineage tools.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and infrastructure-as-code practices (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Exposure to BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
  • Proficiency in MySQL and PostgreSQL is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using Snowflake, T-SQL, and SSIS.
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views for data transformation and analytics.
  • Implement and manage Snowflake features including SnowSQL, SnowPipe, Streams, Tasks, and Time Travel.
  • Build and manage data models and data warehouses in both Snowflake and Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Ensure data integrity, performance, and security across data environments.
  • Work within AWS services (EC2, S3, etc.) to support our cloud native data infrastructure.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and reliability issues.
  • Develop best practices for data management, governance, and automation.
  • Stay current with emerging data technologies, particularly within Snowflake and AWS ecosystems.
