We are seeking a seasoned Senior Database Engineer/Architect with extensive experience in designing, developing, and optimizing robust database solutions on AWS. This role is critical for building scalable data infrastructure, ensuring data integrity, and enhancing performance across our systems, with a primary focus on PostgreSQL and Amazon Redshift. The annual salary range for this position is $160,000-$175,000.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of professional experience as a Database Engineer or Architect.
  • Deep expertise in PostgreSQL, including advanced features, replication, and performance tuning.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Amazon Redshift, including schema design, query optimization, and cluster management.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing data pipelines using AWS services (e.g., DMS, S3, Lambda, Glue, Kinesis).
  • Strong proficiency with various AWS cloud services, particularly RDS, EC2, S3, and IAM.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling principles, database design, and normalization techniques.
  • Experience with database security, backup, and recovery strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MySQL databases.
  • Familiarity with other data warehousing technologies.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) in a database context.
  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate/Professional).

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, implement, and maintain highly scalable and reliable database systems, primarily utilizing PostgreSQL and Amazon Redshift.
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database functions to ensure peak performance.
  • Design, build, and manage efficient data pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and loading, leveraging AWS services.
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive measures for optimization and disaster recovery.
  • Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance with best practices and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate database solutions into applications and services.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers on database best practices and architecture.
  • Manage and optimize AWS Relational Database Service (RDS) instances and other relevant AWS data services.
