About The Position

The Knights of Columbus is a tax-exempt Catholic fraternal benefit society that provides financial security to members and their families through our life insurance, long-term care insurance, disability income insurance, investment and annuity products. Charity is at the core of our missions: our profits are donated to help those in need and to support our faith - $1.73B over the past ten years. We are looking for a seasoned Data Vault Developer / Builder to support the implementation of Raw Vault, Business Vault, and Info Mart layers using Data Vault methodology. This role requires hands-on experience with VaultSpeed or equivalent tools (e.g., WhereScape 3D), strong SQL development, and a good understanding of data modeling, lineage, and integration patterns. The ideal candidate will have a track record of delivering performant, scalable data solutions in enterprise data environments, especially those leveraging Snowflake.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with Data Vault across all major layers: Raw Vault, Business Vault, and Info Mart.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing Star Schema / Dimensional Models.
  • Proficiency in VaultSpeed (WhereScape 3D experience is acceptable with willingness to complete VaultSpeed Academy training).
  • Strong SQL skills, with experience building complex queries and transformation logic.
  • Proficient in understanding and working with models in erwin or similar data modeling tools.
  • Solid grasp of data lineage concepts, with the ability to produce lineage views in Snowflake.
  • Experience in Snowflake environments, with a deep understanding of data warehousing best practices.
  • Familiarity with metadata management, data governance, and MDM principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Data Vault Certified Professional (DVCP) 2.1 certification.
  • Experience integrating with BI tools or self-service reporting layers.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery frameworks (e.g., Scrum).
  • Strong documentation and communication skills, especially when interfacing with business and technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain Raw Vault components (hubs, links, satellites) using VaultSpeed or similar tooling (e.g., WhereScape 3D).
  • Develop and optimize Business Vault and Info Mart layers to support business consumption and analytics.
  • Implement performant ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL, views, stored procedures, and VaultSpeed-generated code.
  • Interpret mapping documents and business rules; translate them into scalable and maintainable Data Vault models.
  • Apply CDC (Change Data Capture) patterns and implement SCD Type 2 logic for historical tracking and accuracy.
  • Monitor and tune the performance of data pipelines across all vault layers.
  • Serve as a gatekeeper for source data profiling and validation to ensure design alignment.
  • Generate technical diagrams and documentation to clearly communicate end-to-end pipeline logic from source to Raw Vault, Business Vault, and Info Mart.
  • Ensure consistency with data governance, metadata standards, and VaultSpeed naming conventions.
  • Collaborate with data architects, business SMEs, and analytics teams to clarify requirements and ensure business alignment.

Benefits

  • 13 paid holidays per year in addition to vacation and paid sick leave.
  • Flexible workweek schedules.
  • Certifications, designation, and tuition reimbursement.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan with matching company contributions.
