Apella is applying computer vision and machine learning to improve the standard of care in the most critical aspect of healthcare: surgery. We build applications to enable surgeons, nurses, and hospital administrators to deliver the highest quality care. We’re looking for a Data Scientist who thrives on uncovering insights and driving impact through data. If you enjoy solving complex problems, building models, and translating data into actionable strategies, this role is for you. You’ll play a key role in shaping our products and decisions by working across product, engineering, and commercial teams to ensure data is at the center of everything we do.

  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities where data can drive innovation and improve outcomes.
  • Mine and analyze large datasets to inform product development, marketing strategies, and business processes.
  • Build predictive models that optimize customer experiences, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.
  • Design and evaluate A/B tests to measure the impact of new product features and initiatives.
  • Assess the quality and reliability of new data sources and collection methods.
  • Develop tools, processes, and dashboards to monitor model performance and ensure accuracy over time.
  • Communicate findings clearly and effectively, turning data into compelling narratives for technical and non-technical audiences alike.
  • 5–7 years of experience analyzing data and building statistical models.
  • A Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Economics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, or another quantitative field.
  • Expertise with data analysis methods, predictive modeling, and causal inference.
  • Proficiency with multiple programming languages and tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
  • A strong ability to translate data into actionable business recommendations.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting insights to leadership.
  • Familiarity with SaaS products, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
