About The Position

Hinge Health is on a mission to create a new healthcare system built around the user. To achieve this, we must demonstrate that our digital clinic not only improves clinical outcomes but also drives significant financial savings for our clients—primarily large employers and health plans. As a Senior Data Scientist in the ROI Identification & Measurement Pod, you will join a high-impact, cross-functional team of Product, Data Science, Health Economics, and Engineering. Your work sits at the heart of our commercial value proposition: using massive healthcare claims datasets to prove and predict the economic impact of our programs. In this role, you will solve complex technical challenges such as building propensity score matching models to establish causal impact and developing predictive models that identify high-risk members for targeted clinical interventions. You will be a key architect of our automated claims analysis engine, leveraging a modern stack (Databricks, dbt, and the open-source Tuva Project) to transform raw, messy healthcare data into clear, defensible ROI insights that drive company-wide strategy.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with large datasets to solve business and technology problems and generate insights to help with decision making
  • Experience with causal inference and A/B testing
  • Working knowledge of SQL, visualization tools & data modeling experience
  • Experience with Python or R for data analysis
  • Prior experience in healthcare analytics or health economics with claims or other clinical data

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques for predictive modeling and recommendation systems.
  • Experience with data transformations in dbt
  • Hands-on experience with AI tooling (i.e. Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code)

  • Enable Data-Driven Decisions: Create and manage high-visibility dashboards for internal and external stakeholders, monitoring ROI performance and clinical value across our entire book of business.
  • Drive Strategic Recommendations: Translate complex analytical findings into actionable insights for Product, Marketing, and Customer Success teams to optimize program impact and member engagement.
