The Senior Data Scientist at Sam's Club AI Labs will spearhead the development of AI and machine learning solutions across our retail domains across operations, merchandising, finance, conversational AI, and e-commerce. Your key focus will be on crafting and deploying machine learning models that drive business value and enhance our member experience. The role will be responsible to manage the full life cycle of projects, build MLOps framework for continuous deployment of data science algorithms, and engage cross-functional teams in an agile environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to merge retail expertise with AI to drive transformative change in our business.

Work a team of talented data scientists and machine learning engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams in product, business, and engineering to address cutting edge retail problems using AI.
Drive the design and development of innovative ML models and solutions, focusing on retail core domains such as operations, merchandising, finance, conversational AI, and e-commerce.
Manage end-to-end project execution, from planning and data collection to model prototyping and deployment, while effectively communicating with stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
Work closely with the Product and Engineering teams to inform, drive, and accelerate innovations in discovery experiences through insights, frameworks, causal inference solutions, and machine learning prototypes.
Develop and implement a robust MLOps framework to create, build, and deploy data science algorithms, enabling continuous testing and experimentation.

Expertise in Machine Learning and Data Science
Strong technical skills in SQL, Python, R , or other programming languages commonly used in data analysis.
Deep expertise in Customer Data Science viz . customer segmentation, churn analysis, repeat purchase, market basket, A/B testing, etc.
Awareness of software engineering principles, ability to develop and deploy appropriate analytic code suitable for production.
Working knowledge of CI/CD and MLOps
Experience working with large datasets, finding insights, and telling stories using data.
Good knowledge in working with distributed datastores (e.g., SQL, NoSQL ), and Big Data and Cloud technologies like GCP BQ .
Experience in leading and mentoring a team of data scientists.
Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Prior experience working in the retail data sets is strongly preferred.
Experience in the design, development and deployment of large-scale production machine learning systems
Skilled in Programming language (Python, Pyspark) and Large-scale training using data structures and algorithms
Extensive experience with machine learning and deep learning packages (scikit-learn, lightGBM, Tensorflow or PyTorch).
Experience with cloud environments including Azure, Google Cloud, etc.
Solid MLOps practices including good design documentation, unit testing, integration testing and source code control (git).
Experienced with agile methodologies using project planning and tracking management tools e.g., JIRA
5 years’ experience in building Machine Learning based models in a professional environment
Master degree with 3-year industrial experience or PhD degree with 1-year industrial experience
Ability to identify business requirements, frame into ML problem and solution with right architecture design
Hands on experience in building and maintaining enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines
Experience deploying applications in GCP and Azure
Large-scale project experience incorporating all levels of architecture development
Background in open-source products in the dev ops and machine learning space
Knowledge of architecture standards and how they relate to data science products
Option 1- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 2- Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.

Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R,

‎ The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00
‎ Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
