About The Position

Peerspace is the leading and category defining online marketplace for venue rentals for meetings, productions, and events. They open doors to inspiring spaces around the world, from lofts and mansions to storefronts and studios, with over $500M transacted through the platform. Investors include GV (Google Ventures) and Foundation Capital. The company is seeking a senior data scientist for a contract to possible full-time opportunity to partner with their PED (Product, Engineering, Design) teams and diverse business units. This role aims to help these teams understand users, product performance, and the marketplace as a whole. The position is part of the Analytics team and reports directly to the Head of Analytics. The ideal candidate is interested in using data to solve business and user problems, can manage diverse stakeholders, drive cross-functional alignment on analytical priorities, is curious about user engagement, self-motivated, and capable of refining ambiguous questions into clear problem statements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data science, product analytics, or similar functions
  • Strong SQL skills and comfort working with large datasets
  • Experience building visualizations with Tableau, Looker or similar BI platforms
  • Proficient in communicating insights to business partners
  • Ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders and prioritize an analytics roadmap in a dynamic environment with competing priorities
  • Experience applying statistics and experiment design in a business context
  • Experience in at least one data-oriented language like Python, R or Julia
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Math, Computer Science, Engineering)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with another two-sided marketplace
  • Experience applying causal inference, predictive modeling or other advanced statistical methods in a business context

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with PED to set goals, understand how users are engaging with our product, and learn from experiments in our two-sided marketplace
  • Develop measurement frameworks and institute new metrics or reporting systems to help us understand our marketplace and users
  • Align cross-functional stakeholders on the priorities and analytical roadmap for critical areas of our business
  • Design and analyze experiments
  • Dive deep on user behavior and the dynamics of our marketplace
  • Unpack business trends and diagnose drivers of business performance
  • Collaborate with the rest of the Analytics and Data Engineering teams and the broader data community to grow and nurture data culture at Peerspace
