About The Position

Ibotta is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our fast growing Client Data & Measurement team and move forward our mission to Make Every Purchase Rewarding. We are a cross-functional team that creates data and analytical solutions throughout the business. We seek to understand, and provide recommendations to spur business growth, serving as an expert within the company for delivering solutions that solve complex challenges. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for using the latest developments in statistics, machine learning, and data visualizations. Using these skills, you will identify and build strategic opportunities to grow the business, support initiatives, and drive value. In addition, you will be expected to build trustworthy and robust datasets for use throughout the organization. This role will immediately drive impact through the support, guidance, and collaboration with multiple spokes as part of our Hub and Spoke organizational layout. This position is located in Denver, Colorado as a hybrid position requiring 3 days in office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Candidates must live in the United States.

Requirements

5+ years of experience making significant impacts in a professional data science or machine learning role
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics or a related field required
A history of and passion for driving important decisions using data and data storytelling
A love of learning and continuous development, including staying at the forefront of the latest advances in data science and machine learning.
Applied machine learning and statistical algorithms to optimize processes, predict outcomes, forecast trends, and enhance decision-making, driving improved efficiency and results
Expert-level Python knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Excellent statistical analysis skills, with a solid understanding of experimental design and time series analysis
Superior analytical and problem solving skills
Expert-level knowledge, skills, and abilities in database manipulation, query languages, and graph data schemas
Experience manipulating complex data to apply business rules for improved feature engineering within data lakes, distributed systems, and data streams

Nice To Haves

Broad-scale community contributions to the fields of data science and machine learning in the way of conference presentations, professional publications, and/or recognized internet presence are a strong plus
Spark or PySpark experience is a strong plus
Experience in MLOps a strong plus but not required

Responsibilities

Initiate and drive collaboration with stakeholders, architects, and data engineers to discover, define, cleanse, and refine the data needed for analysis and modeling
Establish strong cross departmental relationships with stakeholders and peers to understand business problems and opportunities for improvements
Analyze, and at times build, large and novel datasets to extract actionable insights to inform model development and understand customer behavior and or product performance
Ability to prioritize projects based on business impact and value; lead and manage large scale projects
Build models using a variety of statistical and machine learning techniques, from selecting the best type of model for the problem to using advanced techniques to measure and optimize model performance
Become an expert of the Ibotta Data Ecosystem and how various teams leverage Ibotta’s suite of data to answer domain specific business questions through advanced analytic techniques
Inform experimental design to formulate solutions addressing major business challenges and innovation opportunities
Provide data science mentoring and education to this team and others across the company
