About the Team: Spark Driver Platform operates across all 50 U.S. states, empowering millions of drivers to provide local delivery and making it Walmart's largest local delivery service provider. The Spark Driver Applied AI team is dedicated to enhancing efficiency and profitability by pushing the boundaries of machine learning, data science, and economics. We build highly reliable and scalable production systems that drive the growth of the Spark Driver Platform. Our key focus areas include Capacity Planning, Driver Search, Driver Matching, Driver Offer Pricing, Driver Surge Pricing, Incentive Strategy, ETA Prediction, and GenAI Automation for Driver Support. About the Role: Walmart’s Spark Platform is revolutionizing last-mile delivery by leveraging advanced AI and ML technologies. We are looking for a Senior Applied Scientist to develop and optimize predictive systems that estimate delivery times with high accuracy. This role offers an opportunity to work on large-scale, real-time data pipelines and deploy ML solutions that directly impact millions of customers and drivers. About Team: Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization. What you'll do: Collaborate with business, product, and software engineers to scale models into production systems. Design, develop, deploy, and scale machine learning systems to predict estimated delivery times (ETAs) based on dynamic real-world conditions. Work with large-scale datasets, including GPS tracking, order details, and traffic patterns. Deploy and scale end-to-end models, balancing accuracy and computational efficiency. Design and optimize ML pipelines, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and reliability. Explore and integrate the latest AI advancements, ensuring Walmart remains a leader in AI-driven delivery solutions. What you'll bring: Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, or a related field. Extensive experience in forecasting, machine learning, deep learning and Reinforcement learning. Proven track record of deploying ML models in production, preferably in high-scale environments. Strong proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or other ML frameworks. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, or Azure. Knowledge of big data technologies like Spark, Kafka, and SQL. Proficiency in MLOps practices, including CI/CD for ML pipelines and model monitoring. Ability to drive projects from conception to production in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Requirements

Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, or a related field.
Extensive experience in forecasting, machine learning, deep learning and Reinforcement learning.
Proven track record of deploying ML models in production, preferably in high-scale environments.
Strong proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or other ML frameworks.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, or Azure.
