About The Position

The Senior Data Scientist will join the People Analytics team at Manulife, focusing on shaping the HR & Communications data strategy. This role involves collaborating with various partners to identify impactful people opportunities and applying advanced analytics techniques to derive insights and develop data solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a passion for AI/ML, and the ability to provide technical leadership within the team, ultimately driving data solutions that benefit the organization.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Data Science, Math, Statistics, etc.)
  • Experience with multivariate statistical methods, classification, dimension reduction, clustering, etc.
  • Proficient in programming languages (Python, R), relational databases (SQL) and large-scale distributed systems (Hadoop, Spark)
  • Experience in training machine learning models with both structured and unstructured data in big data pipelines (Azure or others)
  • Experience in developing and running pilot tests and knowledge of design methodologies to perform research
  • Familiarity with HR systems like Workday or other HR management platforms is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Analyze large data sets using the latest technologies and statistical methodologies to discover insights in data
  • Prepare data for predictive modeling, applying ML models, and building algorithms to solve key business problems and drive business value
  • Implement model evaluation techniques, communicate results to team members, and measure the performance of predictions
  • Partner with team members across Human Resources on people projects to understand key issues and the related business questions and hypotheses
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the field of data science and share knowledge with the team
  • Communicate results of analyses and relevant implications to both technical and non-technical partners
