About The Position

The Senior Data Scientist - AI is responsible for research, development, and deployment of advance machine learning models that can generate actionable insights and power intelligent applications. This role goes beyond traditional data science, focusing on building, scaling and operationalizing AI/ML solutions to support business workflows. The Senior Data Scientist will design and train models for predictive and prescriptive modeling on complex data as well as develop and fine-tune NLP/GenAI models for integration into custom applications and workflows. They will also support the development and maintenance of internal AI/ML and data science applications utilizing tools such as Python, RAPIDs and modern data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau). Working closely with stakeholders from various business units, these projects require the ability to lead others while providing expert guidance to deliver creative and practical solutions to improve the operations of a global workforce. This role will be located in our Downtown Los Angeles office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate proficiency in building data science models using Python/R
  • Exhibit SQL proficiency to extract and connect data from multiple systems
  • Possess knowledge and experience with a wide variety of software programs, including MS Azure, AWS, and Power Apps
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or appropriate work experience
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on experience in delivering data science solutions and analytical models driving critical business decision-making, with a minimum of three (3) years of specifically using Python
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a senior capacity delivering data science solutions

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with stakeholders and the machine learning team to identify data science opportunities and define requirements
  • Analyzing data patterns and applying appropriate models and solutions for regression analysis, forecasting, probability analysis, and trending
  • Designing data extractions, cleansing, and transformations connecting disparate data sets through complex SQL queries
  • Delivering actionable findings via Tableau and PowerPoint presentations to senior leadership
  • Monitoring production models and infrastructure for ongoing maintenance, configuration changes, and improvements, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
