About The Position

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Senior Data Science Engineer with a strong interest in AI/ML and advanced analytics to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing and applying data science techniques to solve complex customer problems. This role will involve hands-on experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, and data-driven decision-making to help shape the data strategy and drive insights from large, varied datasets.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience solving complex problems using data science methods, including applied machine learning (regression, classification, supervised, and unsupervised learning) and time-series data analysis.
  • Proficient in scalable machine learning (e.g., MapReduce, streaming) and numpy, panda data science libraries, and skilled in data cleansing, normalization, and version control using Git or similar tools.
  • Experience with machine learning model training and analysis through open-source frameworks (Pytorch, Tensorflow, Sklearn) and analyzing model performance with relevant metrics and optimizing.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.

  • MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent STEM fields with a strong foundation in linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics.
  • Able to work independently, drive projects autonomously, and contribute effectively in team settings.
  • Skilled in improving processes, systems, or products, mentoring junior engineers, and addressing complex, multi-faceted problems.
  • Knowledgeable, motivated, ethical, and focused on advancing organizational goals with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with data and subject matter experts and customer teams to seek, understand, validate, interpret, and correctly use data and business insights.
  • Train, validate and deploy machine learning pipelines.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and enhance customer software applications with and on behalf of customers.
  • Identify application performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations.
  • Write application specifications, tutorials and documentation.
