About The Position

As a Senior Data Platform Architect on the APX Bedrock team, you will have significant responsibility and influence in shaping the future of data engineering at Apple. This is a senior technical leadership position requiring deep expertise in data platform architecture, advanced data processing systems, and modern AI-enhanced workflows. Key responsibilities include: Architect and design scalable data platform solutions that serve enterprise-wide analytics needs Lead technical strategy for data orchestration, quality monitoring, and metadata management systems Drive innovation in AI-powered data engineering workflows and automation Define technical standards and best practices for data platform development Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact platform capabilities Mentor engineering teams and influence technical direction across the organization Ensure operational excellence and reliability of critical data infrastructure

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• 8+ years of hands-on experience architecting and building large-scale data platforms using technologies like Spark, Flink, and modern orchestration frameworks
• Expert-level programming skills in Java, Scala, or Go, with strong Python capabilities
• Proven experience designing and operating distributed data systems (Hadoop, HDFS, Kafka, Airflow)
• Deep understanding of data processing patterns, streaming architectures, and real-time analytics
• Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into data engineering workflows
• Track record of delivering enterprise-grade platforms with high availability and performance requirements

• Experience with cloud-native data platforms and containerization technologies (Kubernetes)
• Strong background in data governance, lineage, and quality management systems
• Experience with AI-powered development tools and workflow automation
