About The Position

CARIAN is seeking a Senior Data Modeler and Data Architect to support a large Customer Data Asset program for our client in Newark, NJ. This role is central to building the conceptual logical and physical data models that power customer analytics reporting and enterprise visibility. The position requires deep experience designing Redshift models dimensional schemas and enterprise data structures along with the ability to translate business needs into scalable architecture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field required
• 8 or more years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, or analytical engineering
• Expert dimensional modeling and advanced SQL
• Strong experience designing Redshift schemas for performance and scale
• Experience in customer analytics environments preferred
• Ability to communicate clearly across technical and business teams
• Ability to meet client security and compliance requirements including eligibility for 810 access which may require United States citizenship or permanent residency.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree preferred
• AWS certifications are a plus
• Preferred certifications: AWS Certified Data Engineer Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional, AWS Certified Developer Associate
• Experience with Snowflake or Databricks is a plus

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business SMEs to capture analytical and reporting needs
• Translate requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models
• Design dimensional models including Star and Snowflake patterns for Redshift
• Define data standards, relationships, and modeling requirements
• Build and optimize Redshift tables, views, and materialized views for performance
• Document data flows lineage and governance structures
• Partner with Data Engineering to ensure pipelines align with architectural requirements
• Leverage AWS Glue, Step Functions, DataZone, and related AWS services
