About The Position

CareDx, Inc. is a leading precision medicine solutions company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of clinically differentiated, high-value healthcare solutions for transplant patients and caregivers. CareDx offers products, testing services, and digital healthcare solutions along the pre- and post-transplant patient journey, and is the leading provider of genomics-based information for transplant patients. We are seeking a Senior Data Management Engineer with 8-10 years of experience in enterprise data engineering and management. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining robust data pipelines, managing database deployments, and ensuring reliable database replication across mission-critical environments. You will play a key part in shaping our modern data ecosystem by leveraging Azure Data Factory (ADF) and enterprise database technologies to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality data solutions. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional who enjoys working across data integration, administration, and governance while collaborating closely with business and technology stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Experience: 8-10 years in data engineering / data management, with proven expertise in Azure Data Factory (ADF).
  • Database Skills: Strong hands-on background in database deployment, administration, and replication (SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL).
  • Data Knowledge: Proficiency in SQL, ETL/ELT frameworks, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Cloud Expertise: Experience with Azure services such as Data Lake, Synapse, and Delta Lake.
  • DevOps & Automation: Familiarity with CI/CD practices for pipelines and database code deployment (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
  • Governance: Solid understanding of data security, compliance, and governance frameworks.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications: Data Engineering on Microsoft Azure or Azure Database Administrator Associate.
  • Experience with real-time streaming tools (Kafka, Event Hub).
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, ARM templates, Liquibase, Flyway).
  • Knowledge of Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or other monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Develop Pipelines: Build, automate, and optimize ETL/ELT workflows using Azure Data Factory (ADF).
  • Database Deployment & Administration: Support schema design, versioning, migrations, and perform administrative tasks such as performance monitoring, tuning, indexing, and access management.
  • Replication & Synchronization: Implement and maintain database replication strategies to ensure high availability and consistency across systems.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Define and enforce validation frameworks, ensuring compliance with governance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Optimization & Troubleshooting: Optimize SQL queries and data processes for speed, cost, and scalability, while resolving pipeline or replication issues.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Partner with architects, analysts, and DBAs to deliver end-to-end solutions. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and champion best practices in data engineering and DevOps.
