About The Position

Student Health Services is a Joint Commission–accredited ambulatory outpatient facility located in the heart of the Ohio State University Columbus campus offering a wide range of health care services to the university’s student population. Under the direction of the Director of Student Health Services (SHS) in the Office of Student Life, the Data Management Analyst 3 supports the mission of the university's Student Health center by managing, analyzing, and reporting clinical and operational data to support evidence-based decision-making, enhance clinical efficiency, and ensure compliance with university and regulatory standards. This position serves as a key strategic partner in leading SHS data analytics efforts supporting more than 17,000 outpatient medical and dental patients, over 90,000 pharmaceutical and allied health encounters, multiple health outreach and engagement programs, and approximately $15 million in annual revenue. Serving as the primary resource and subject matter expert, this position transforms complex data from the electronic health record (EHR) system, PyraMED, into actionable insights that inform clinical practice, operational improvement, and strategic planning. The analyst collaborates closely with clinical providers, nurses, and administrative staff to evaluate workflows, ensure data integrity, and develop effective reporting solutions that align with healthcare informatics best practices. Utilizing ongoing quality improvement methods and critical thinking skills, this role supports the SHS Leadership Team to continually assess effectiveness of services and unit practices and independently completes data collection requests and assigned special projects. This role establishes, monitors, and analyzes benchmarking information and metrics. This role will also serve as a backup for our hosted application technology partner to ensure on-site support and training needs are provided for end users of the EHR system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in data analysis, healthcare informatics, Electronic Health Record (EHR)-based reporting.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Experience working with healthcare data and understanding of HIPAA and data confidentiality principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Four to eight years of experience in data analysis, healthcare informatics, or EHR-based reporting.
  • Experience with PyraMED EHR or similar university/student health systems.
  • Familiarity with SQL, database querying, and data extraction from healthcare information systems.
  • Experience in an academic or ambulatory healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and healthcare compliance metrics.
