About The Position

The Sherwin-Williams Company is seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop, test, analyze, document, implement, and support the Enterprise Data Platform processes and related infrastructure. The role involves acquiring and interpreting business requirements, creating functional specifications, and estimating large efforts. The Data Engineer will contribute to development across the full software development lifecycle, including ETL, data modeling, analytics, and reporting. The position requires setting direction for technical aspects of projects, mitigating risks, troubleshooting code deployment, and supporting Agile methodologies. The role is hybrid, allowing periodic work from home within reasonable commuting distance of the Cleveland, OH office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Computer Science or Information Technology field of study.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Data Engineer, Senior Developer, Consultant or related role.
  • Five (5) years of Information Technology experience.
  • Five (5) years with SQL, specifically PostgreSQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL, SNOWSQL.
  • Five (5) years with building applications, system integrations, and web services.
  • Three (3) years with server-side scripting and programming in a Linux environment (primarily bash shell).
  • Three (3) years using data warehouse ETL tools (specifically Informatica/IDMC, Fivetran/HVR, Oracle Data Integrator (ODI)).
  • Three (3) years using enterprise scheduling tools (specifically BMC Control-M, Autosys, Crontab).
  • Experience with common database technologies including performance, tuning, and optimization.
  • Experience with data manipulation using data warehouse ETL tools and processes.
  • Experience in design, planning, management, maintenance, and support of Cloud Technologies such as Azure and Snowflake.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence Tools (MicroStrategy, Tableau, BOBJ).
  • Experience in deployment of solutions such as Informatica IDMC/Snowflake code deployment using GITHUB CI/CD.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, analyze, document, implement, and support the Enterprise Data Platform processes and related infrastructure.
  • Acquire and interpret business requirements and create functional specifications and estimates for large efforts.
  • Submit and review process improvements and set direction across the team.
  • Assist the team in understanding program direction.
  • Contribute to development across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Design components for Data Warehouse technologies both on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Mitigate risk to deployment of warehouse solutions to the environment.
  • Troubleshoot and support code deployment and resolve code concerns.
  • Assist and lead other team members to recognize, troubleshoot, and eliminate 'at risk' code.
  • Support Agile methodologies and participate in the Agile community.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of high impact internal team process improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate and run meetings to understand requirements for defects, enhancements, and large size project efforts.
  • Provide direction on solving complex activities.
  • Develop new technology solutions and create POCs.
  • Participate in training and mentoring other team members.
  • Create and deliver presentations for the team.
  • Participate in hiring activities and assist with interviewing.
