About The Position

Our client is a Bermuda-based global reinsurance hub affiliated with one of the world's top 10 investment companies. They specialize in annuity reinsurance for the Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) market, providing long-term financial security to their clients' customers by guaranteeing pension benefits for life. The client is building a reporting platform with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. Our current MVP is built on a Lakehouse following the medallion architecture, but it has not yet been deployed to production. We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to validate and enhance our existing solution, and to help establish a production-ready system. In this role, you will develop data ingestion and transformation pipelines, BI dashboards, CI/CD pipelines, and ensure adherence to best practices in architecture, governance, security, and deployment. You will be part of a team alongside a Solution Architect and another Data Engineer, working directly with the Head of Product. In this role, you'll provide advice on technologies and architecture while collaborating with stakeholders in English. The primary stakeholders are based in Bermuda (GMT-3).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of total experience in building ETL/ELT pipelines with Cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • 3+ years of total experience with Azure Cloud and Data Services (Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Facotry, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Functions).
  • 3+ years of total experience with Python, PySpark, and Delta Lake.
  • Experience developing robust analytical dashboards with Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of Data Lakehouse and Data warehouse design principles, including Dimensional Modelling.
  • Experience working with Data Quality tools.
  • Experience writing complex analytical SQL queries.
  • Good knowledge of DevOps principles and experience building CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps Services and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience writing scripts with Powershell and Bash.
  • Experience in delivering MVPs, gathering requirements, establishing MVP goals and making roadmaps.
  • Knowledge of OOP and software design principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively and individually in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with business stakeholders.
  • Good spoken English.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Fabric certifications DP-600 or DP-700.
  • Asset Management or Investment Management domain expertise.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with the agile SCRUM and Kanban delivery models, along with proficiency in JIRA.
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests.
  • Experience with Azure Databricks.
  • Knowledge of C#.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing a reporting platform and its features by using modern technologies and techniques, and influencing project decisions.
  • Work directly with the Head of the Product to understand the business needs and requirements.
