Senior Data Engineer The Hartford's Data Science Organization is seeking a Senior Data Engineer - Developer to directly support its patented NLP (natural language processing) data asset. The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for sourcing unstructured data from a variety of disparate sources and formats (free-form narratives, scanned documents, transcribed conversations, etc.) into its core NLP asset in support of predictive models and operational processes. The successful candidate will bring to this role an intellectually curious mindset, a talent for creative problem solving using a variety of technologies, and the strategic vision to propose and execute technical solutions to business problems in the context of cost versus benefit. S/He will work with NLP developers, business partners and IT staff to maintain and enhance the existing asset as well as develop new data flows using existing and new technologies. Leadership skills are required to 1.) independently drive solutions to success, 2.) recommend strategic designs, and 3.) mentor and direct junior data engineers. We are looking for a collaborative member of a small, highly effective team who can work independently to remove impediments and execute technical solutions to business problems.
