About The Position

Our The Points Guy team is looking for a Senior Data Engineer. In this role, you’ll build data products and create the foundation that powers our machine learning and business analytics efforts. You’ll work hand-in-hand with a variety of stakeholders from functional groups across the organization to create end-to-end solutions. Red Ventures is a high-autonomy, high-ownership environment; you’ll own your work from idea to production solution. Our data engineering tech stack is primarily AWS and Spark/SparkSQL/Python via Databricks, though we welcome strong applicants from a wide variety of technical backgrounds. Requirements

  • Cloud & big data platforms - 5+ years designing and developing on AWS and Databricks data lake and lakehouse architectures
  • Programming - Expert in SQL, Python/Scala
  • Streaming - Hands on with Kafka and Spark Structured Streaming in production
  • Data modeling & warehousing - Dimensional, data vault, and real time schemas; SQL performance tuning on data warehouses, including Snowflake and Databricks SQL
  • Orchestration & DevOps - dbt, GitHub Actions, Terraform; strong CI/CD experience
  • Proven experience building scalable data pipelines and integrations leveraging APIs.
  • Data architecture - System design experience for batch and real time
  • Domain experience - Prior work in consumer finance, banking or fintech
  • Soft skills - Proven ability to translate technical concepts to non technical audiences; excellent written & verbal communication

Nice To Haves

  • Experience modernizing or migrating large-scale data environments to Databricks or AWS.
  • Familiarity with data governance, cataloging, and access-control frameworks.
  • Proven success influencing technical direction and driving adoption of best practices across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines and infrastructure in Databricks and AWS (S3, EC2, Lambda, etc.).
  • Build high impact data products - Develop scalable, well tested data models that drive lifetime value, churn, and propensity insights powering RV sites and CRM activations.
  • Engineer reliable data pipelines - Implement Python/Spark jobs, dbt transformations, and Orchestration with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Terraform).
  • Partner with analytics and product teams to translate business needs into scalable data models and solutions.
  • Implement and promote best practices in data architecture, security, observability, and governance.
  • Collaborate with data stakeholders on privacy-safe data sharing solutions, including clean-room environments and other secure data exchange methods.
