Respondology is looking for a hands-on and forward-thinking Senior Data Engineer to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of data infrastructure, scalability, and engineering excellence — and who wants to have a direct impact on how we build, scale, and maintain our data systems. You'll create the infrastructure and processes to collect and manage our data, ensuring it's accurate, accessible, and secure for use across the organization. From solving our data warehousing needs to improving product stability and enabling AI-driven features, you'll build the foundations that engineering, product, data science, and business analytics teams rely on every day. Respondology is the AI-powered social comments company for moderating unwanted content, surfacing insights, and engaging at any scale. Fast to deploy. Easy to use. Trusted by hundreds of leading brands to optimize their organic and paid social performance. This is a remote role open to candidates in the US and Canada. Travel to Boulder for team events required twice per year.

  • Design and optimize database schemas and data models across our Postgres, OpenSearch, and Redshift stack.
  • Build ETL pipelines to support our knowledge base and enable mass ingestion of external data sources.
  • Implement data warehousing solutions and establish best practices for data organization and accessibility.
  • Improve database access efficiency through query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning.
  • Create data observability and monitoring systems to ensure data quality and pipeline reliability.
  • Enable data-dependent initiatives by making data easily accessible for Business Analysts and Data Scientists.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related technical field—or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, database design, and data modeling best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining production data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and modern data stack tooling.
  • Experience with Postgres, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Redshift, and AWS data services.
  • Hands-on experience with data orchestration and transformation tools (Airflow, Dagster, dbt, or similar).
  • Prior experience bootstrapping a data warehousing platform like Snowflake.
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup or scaling SaaS environment.
  • Strong understanding of data quality frameworks, observability, and monitoring best practices.
  • Experience supporting AI/ML teams with schedule data ingestion for RAG purposes.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
