What You’ll Do As a senior technical leader, you will own complex data architecture initiatives while mentoring engineers and shaping best practices across modeling, governance, performance optimization, and reliability. You’ll collaborate closely with software engineering, analytics, cloud engineering, and leadership to align data strategy with long-term platform goals and modernization efforts. You will: Architect, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines integrating data from customer applications, APIs, third-party platforms, public sources, and internal systems Write and optimize high-performance SQL queries and large-scale data transformations Define and enforce standards for data modeling, transformation, orchestration, testing, and documentation Make critical technical decisions around storage, pipelines, infrastructure, and tooling in partnership with cloud engineering Implement robust testing, monitoring, and observability strategies for pipeline health, performance, AI models, data freshness, and drift Lead troubleshooting efforts and proactively reduce technical debt Establish and lead code review processes that uphold quality, integrity, scalability, and security Drive improvements in operational excellence, reliability, and system scalability Own and document data processes, workflows, and integration standards to promote maintainability and knowledge sharing Lead cross-team initiatives to unify data across systems into scalable, modern platforms Ensure compliance with data security, governance, and privacy standards (NIST, GOVRAMP, FedRAMP, GDPR, etc.) Mentor, coach, and elevate the technical capabilities of fellow engineers What You Bring You combine deep technical expertise with strategic thinking and leadership capability. Advanced SQL expertise, including query tuning for very large datasets Strong experience building and optimizing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines Advanced knowledge of data modeling (star schema, snowflake schema, lakehouse patterns) Strong programming skills in Python (C#, Java, or Scala a plus) Experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow (AWS Glue, Talend, Azure Data Factory, Databricks a plus) Strong experience with distributed computing frameworks (Spark, Flink) Deep experience with cloud-native data ecosystems: AWS (Redshift, Glue, S3, Bedrock, etc.) Azure (Synapse, Data Factory) GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow) Proven experience building CI/CD pipelines for data workflows Experience architecting both batch and real-time streaming pipelines (Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub) Strong understanding of ML/Ops and advanced analytics pipelines Experience integrating AI/ML into data pipelines (e.g., AWS Bedrock or similar technologies) Extensive experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) Strong background in data governance, cataloging, security, and compliance frameworks Experience with Git and modern version control practices Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring or guiding other data engineers Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field — or equivalent practical experience 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or related roles Why This Role Matters This isn’t just another engineering role.
