The Zebra is seeking a Senior Data Engineer that will be responsible for helping us understand and curate our data. You will immediately contribute to the goal of demonstrating our rich datasets to make smarter business decisions. Requirements

  • As we evaluate candidates across all roles, we look for folks who have a strong sense of ownership, great communication and collaboration skills, and a dedication to continuous improvement.
  • 5+ years of professional (or comparable) data engineering experience
  • Experience with SQL,Python, DBT, Kafka, Gitlab
  • Experience with relational databases
  • Deep understanding of event streams and stream processing
  • A desire to follow exceptional software engineering processes
  • Comfort with the Unix/Linux command line

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery, programming experience in Python
  • Experience creating data visualizations using Javascript
  • Github profile or public code portfolio
  • Advanced STEM degree

Responsibilities

  • Design and build ELT/ETL processes and connectors (using Python, DBT, and Flink), distributing this work across other engineers
  • Mentor other engineers and review their work for quality, consistency, and adherence to best practices
  • Assist in the creation of Dimensions & Facts in a starflake schema and create DBT DAG to populate the tables
  • Create Proof of Concept designs to explore new technology in data processing, analytics, and AI areas
  • Work closely with other engineers, designers and Engineering Leadership to rapidly build, iterate, test and deploy new features and products and maintain a high-quality robust codebase

  • The base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $170,000 per year.
  • The final salary amount will be determined based on a variety of factors, including experience, skills, internal equity, and insights gained throughout the interview process
