About The Position

The Senior Data Engineer serves as a technical leader responsible for optimizing Veridian’s modern data ecosystem. This role delivers scalable, secure, high performing data pipelines and cloud-based data products that support analytics, reporting, operational decision making, and automation across the credit union. The Senior Data Engineer partners closely with IT and stakeholders to deliver trusted, governed, and well architected data solutions that enable Veridian to better serve members.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience of 8+ years.
  • 6+ years progressive experience in Business Intelligence.
  • 3+ years of experience working with multiple data sources and producing high-quality, reliable datasets.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD, version control, and deployment automation.
  • 1+ year of experience overseeing several initiatives at a time and adjusting for competing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Azure Data Lake a plus.
  • Knowledge of PCI DSS requirements.
  • Familiarity with data governance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Implement hybrid data architecture patterns, supporting both on-premises SQL Server and Azure cloud data platforms.
  • Build, optimize, and maintain ingestion, transformation, and storage processes using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
  • Develop and enhance medallion-layer (bronze/silver/gold) data models within the Azure lake house environment.
  • Apply and enforce change management policies, version control, CI/CD, and environment lifecycle standards.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI, data privacy, and security standards within BI operations.
  • Implement data quality frameworks, automated validation checks, and observability for reliable operations.
  • Develop and optimize data extraction, transformation, and automation processes using Monarch.
  • Create and maintain data pipelines, datasets, data flows, data dictionaries, and operational processes.
  • Query production databases as needed, including but not limited to PCI data.
  • Document pipelines, datasets, data flows, data dictionaries, and operational processes.
  • Mentor data engineers in modern engineering practices.
  • On call availability required for system support as needed (including nights and weekends).
