Key Responsibilities: The Senior Data Center Services Engineer will have front-line responsibility in supporting break fix activities, implementing project related requirements, executing planned maintenances, and responding to emergency events. Additionally, they will: Perform routine and emergency service network cabling, rack and stack, and power verification. Install, test, and terminate structured cabling including network drops, coax cable drops and specialty cable with appropriate connectors in support of facilities operations. Coordinate the on-site management of sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring all work is preformed according to established practices and procedures. Install network equipment, patch infrastructure in tele-data closets, and patch in network drops using copper and fiber patch cords Install cable and fiber to patch panels, servers, switches and replacement of SFPs and PSUs. Responsible for advanced level support that includes rebooting servers and various devices, replacing hardware, BIOS level configurations and upgrades, ISO imaging and replacing/rebooting/re-cabling modules. Receive, asset tag, store and deploy equipment and tools for data center operations as necessary. Ensure escalation of all emergency responses to circuit and customer equipment issues. Perform equipment installations in a production environment. Perform daily walk-through in the data center and associated spaces to check for alarms and issues in data center equipment. Provide timely and accurate asset and ticket updates in the tools, databases, and folders as necessary and directed by Supervisor Analyze the data center environment and identify areas of improvement and potential trouble conditions, present the facts to management in a timely manner, and make recommendations for solutions. Perform advanced support activities for all related systems and equipment in a Data Center environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of Data Center experience
  • Minimum 5 years of Smart Hands IT Support
  • Minimum 5 years of IT hardware troubleshooting and maintenance experience
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts
  • Ability to lift and move 50lbs of equipment as required, with the ability to exert yourself physically over extended periods of time, which may include: bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
  • HS Diploma / GED

  • Excellent verbal, written communication and computer skills including the ability to communicate with internal and external customers.
  • A+ Certification, CDCP or ITIL Foundation certification
  • Contribute and support 24x7x365 operation along with rotating On-Call responsibilities
  • Capable of working extra shifts (OT) for other team members
