About The Position

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Data Center Senior Network Technician to support the IT program at a major national laboratory. Responsibilities Planning and execute network installations in accordance with customer orders, technical specifications, and industry standards. Analyze installation requirements, order and gather necessary equipment, supplies, and tools, and assess installation sites to ensure successful deployments. Prepare installation diagrams, establishing voice and data networks. Installing networking equipment such as routers, switches, multiplexors. Activate remote access tools, and coordinate with customers to ensure seamless integration of systems. Verify service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms, identifying and correcting issues or escalating them as necessary. Document and label equipment and cables, record configuration diagrams and specifications, and maintain a safe work environment by adhering to codes, standards, and legal regulations. Utilizing the customer’s ticketing system, you will track and update all work performed. A basic understanding of layer 2/3 technology and networking troubleshooting. Adhere to the customer's best practices and procedures when installing cabling and equipment. Provide reports, complete requests for new service, and determine the methodology for networking services. Providing on-site support and participating in on-call rotations for critical incidents. Contribute to the overall success of data center networking projects ensuring high-quality service delivery.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in relevant discipline plus minimum 3 years or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Must have an Active DOE Q Security Clearance
  • Must be US Citizen
  • Firewall: Proficient in configuring and managing enterprise firewall security policies.
  • DaaS: Experienced in supporting and maintaining cloud‑based Desktop‑as‑a‑Service environments.
  • VLAN: Skilled in designing and administering VLANs for segmentation and traffic optimization.
  • Network Port Configuration: Capable of configuring and troubleshooting switch ports in data center environments.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear technical documentation and collaboration.
  • Independent Work: Able to work with minimal supervision in fast‑paced operational settings.
  • Self‑Starter: Demonstrates initiative and drives tasks to completion proactively.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities for complex network issues.
  • TACACS: Experienced in implementing and managing TACACS/TACACS+ for secure device access control.
