About The Position

Oracle is seeking an experienced Data Center Facilities Engineer (IC4) to support a first‑of-its kind, large‑scale liquid‑to‑air (L2A) cooled CDU deployment at our San Antonio, TX data center. This onsite role provides technical leadership and operational ownership of Oracle‑owned data center infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on liquid cooling technologies , mission‑critical reliability, and continuous operational improvement. The engineer will oversee daily operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of liquid cooling systems and supporting mechanical and electrical infrastructure. This position also plays a key role in incident management, commissioning, design integration, vendor oversight, and adherence to engineering governance. The ideal candidate excels in hands‑on engineering, cross‑functional collaboration, and driving operational excellence in a mission‑critical environment.

Requirements

  • Experience in data center facilities engineering or critical infrastructure operations
  • Technical expertise in one or more: liquid cooling/CDUs, mechanical cooling, electrical distribution
  • Experience with CMMS, PM programs, and change management processes
  • Demonstrated vendor and contractor management experience
  • Working knowledge of data center electrical and mechanical systems, containment, and cooling architectures
  • Ability to develop technical procedures and operational documentation

  • Experience with liquid or hybrid cooling deployments
  • Large‑scale or hyperscale data center experience

Responsibilities

  • Liquid Cooling & Critical Environment Operations
  • Serve as onsite SME for L2A cooling systems, CDUs, coolant distribution, and supporting mechanical/electrical infrastructure
  • Own day‑to‑day operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of liquid cooling and facility systems
  • Track and monitor critical environment maintenance and repairs to meet SLAs and ensure maximum uptime
  • Conduct coolant/glycol testing and maintain quality control programs
  • Perform and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities
  • Build and maintain PM schedules, runbooks, and SOPs for normal and emergency operations
  • Manage CMMS records, asset lifecycle documentation, warranties, and spare parts programs
  • Evaluate component suitability, processes, and action plans for liquid cooling systems
  • Recommend system‑level enhancements to improve reliability and reduce risk
  • Incident Management & Operational Excellence
  • Manage incidents impacting data center infrastructure and drive timely resolution
  • Lead diagnostics and repairs using practical engineering knowledge, escalating blockers when needed
  • Apply Oracle processes, procedures, and industry standards to resolve routine issues
  • Participate in post-incident reviews, root cause analysis, and execution of CAPAs
  • Follow emergency operations plans during abnormal events, stabilizing conditions and escalating critical issues
  • Proactively drive operational optimization and efficiency improvement initiatives
  • Ensure safe working practices across all maintenance and operational activities
  • Site Commissioning, Build Support & Design Integration
  • Participate in site assessments to evaluate suitability for new data center builds
  • Prepare and review technical reports documenting findings and recommendations
  • Support design reviews and commissioning activities to ensure alignment with engineering standards
  • Review mechanical simulations (including CFD) to assess airflow and thermal performance, recommending design adjustments as needed
  • Collaborate with design, construction, commissioning, and operations teams to integrate new liquid cooling and mechanical systems into existing environments
  • Review design specifications, SOWs, and construction turnover packages
  • Data Center Operations Management
  • Support and validate onsite data center operations related to engineering infrastructure
  • Serve as an engineering SME for mission-critical systems, operations, and functionality
  • Communicate operational requirements and ensure issues are escalated to the appropriate teams
  • Adhere to standards and policies through documentation review, commissioning participation, and design summits
  • Document and review critical‑impacting changes; represent engineering in CAB meetings
  • Coordinate with colocation providers and Oracle change control processes
  • Engineering Leadership, Governance & Documentation
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on design and engineering initiatives
  • Provide engineering insight to ensure alignment with company expectations
  • Coordinate with internal and external project teams to deliver data center infrastructure
  • Contribute to policy development and maintenance of best-in-class procedures
  • Prepare technical reports to support design decisions and project progress
