About The Position

ASSYST is seeking a Senior Data Architect to support our customer project in Tallahassee, FL. Job Title: Senior Data Architect Location: Tallahassee, FL Telecommuting: This role follows a flexible hybrid work model, with 2 days per week onsite and up to 3 days per week remote. Job Description: Overview The Senior Data Architect / Data Analyst will support the FDOT Office of Work Program and Budget (OWPB) in transitioning financial data systems to the Florida Planning, Accounting, and Ledger Management (PALM) system. This role focuses on analyzing existing data models, redesigning data marts and General Ledger structures, improving ETL processes, and ensuring data quality, reporting continuity, and cloud compatibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 7+ years of experience working with large, complex database systems.
  • 7+ years of experience as a data architect or senior data analyst.
  • Strong experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and relational database platforms such as SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2.
  • Experience supporting financial data systems, including accounting and ledger data.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong understanding of financial management and reporting processes.
  • Expertise in relational and dimensional data modeling techniques.
  • Ability to perform data impact analysis and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with data quality management, governance, and compliance best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, Snowflake) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze existing Work Program Datamart and General Ledger data models to assess impacts from Florida PALM Chart of Accounts changes.
  • Design and implement updated data models that align with Florida PALM standards and business requirements.
  • Review and enhance ETL processes to improve data accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
  • Implement data quality controls and validation processes for production data loads.
  • Ensure reporting and downstream systems continue to function without disruption during the PALM transition.
  • Provide guidance on data visualization and reporting best practices to support financial analysis.
  • Collaborate with development teams, business stakeholders, and OIT to deploy revised data models and resolve integration issues.
  • Ensure data solutions align with the State of Florida’s cloud-first architecture strategy.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship on data modeling, integration, and quality standards.
