About The Position

Are you a Data Architect with deep expertise in AWS cloud-native technologies looking for a place to make an impact? Serco, a solutions company headquartered in Herndon, VA is seeking a forward-thinking Senior Data Architect with deep expertise in AWS cloud-native technologies to join the Solutions Architect team to assist with designing and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performance data architectures to support the eligibility-support processing for consumer access to the Federal Marketplace Exchange under the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This role will focus on improving operational reporting, modernizing legacy systems, enabling advanced analytics, and supporting enterprise-wide data initiatives in a cloud-first environment. We are looking for a team-player who is passionate about solving problems for mission-driven initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 12-15 years of related experience
  • Experience designing and implementing AWS cloud-based data architectures
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and cloud-native data services (e.g., AWS RedShift, AWS RDS, etc)
  • Experience with data pipeline tools and service orchestration frameworks, including familiarity with event-based processing and model context protocol
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation), DevSecOps pipelines and tools and CI/CD practices
  • Background in data architectures supporting different data processing types such as: massively parallel processing (MPP) vs symmetric multiprocessing (SMP)
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time if needed

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • Certifications in AWS Cloud (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, AWS Solution Architect, etc.)
  • Experience with data migration into the cloud and within the cloud
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker)
  • Experience with agile methodologies, case management systems, decision technologies, and using tools like Jira and Confluence

Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing cloud-based data platforms using AWS-native technologies
  • Developing scalable data lake, data warehouse, and real-time streaming architectures
  • Architecting and optimizing relational and non-relational (NoSQL) databases
  • Identifying and integrating new technologies to replace or enhance legacy systems
  • Translating business requirements into robust and scalable data architectures
  • Working closely with system engineers, analysts, other solutions architects, business stakeholders, and program leadership
  • Providing architectural guidance and direction to technical teams, including operations, security and software development
  • Providing thought leadership
