About The Position

Aptive Resources is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to support the Investigators, Scientific Review, and Management (ISRM) team within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Research and Development (ORD) under the Field Enterprise Research Support Services (FERSS) contract. This role supports field-based research programs by providing data analysis, reporting, and data management support to assess program performance and research impact. The position involves working with multiple data sources to track clinical trials, research activities, and program outcomes, and translating data into actionable insights for stakeholders. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, experience working with structured and unstructured data sources, and the ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. This is a full-time (40 hours/week), 100% remote position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, statistics, computer science, public health, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or data management.
  • Experience working with structured datasets and performing data validation and analysis.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as PowerBI, SQL, SAS, R, Python, or advanced Excel.
  • Experience developing reports, summaries, or data visualizations for stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting research programs, clinical trials, or research administration environments.
  • Familiarity with VA or federal data environments and systems (e.g., IRBNet or similar systems).
  • Experience integrating data from multiple sources into unified datasets.
  • Experience supporting program performance tracking and reporting.
  • Familiarity with AI, machine learning, or automation tools to improve data workflows.
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Slack or Otter (or similar tools).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical and scientific writing.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, integrate, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources, including internal tracking systems, research program data, and external data sources.
  • Support portfolio analyses and tracking of research activities, including clinical trials and field-based program performance.
  • Curate and analyze data related to research activities and impacts to support reporting and dissemination to stakeholders.
  • Develop reports, summaries, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate key findings and trends.
  • Translate stakeholder data requests into structured data queries and analytical outputs.
  • Support identification and evaluation of tools, including AI and automation solutions, to improve data workflows and reporting efficiency.
  • Perform data cleaning, transformation, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of datasets.
  • Collaborate with program staff and stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver timely, actionable insights.
  • Document methodologies, data sources, and assumptions used in analyses.
  • Support continuous improvement of data processes, including automation of recurring data calls and reporting workflows.
