About The Position

Under the supervision of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute (WPRCI) Director, the Data Analyst is responsible for maintaining, expanding, and extracting data from an existing, terabyte-sized clinical research database (Multiple Myeloma Database). The position will integrate and collate large, complex data sets using structured query language. Provides oversight on research, analysis, and modeling protocols. Oversees the modification, and application of software, algorithms, queries, analytical pipelines, or mathematical models to better assist in the understanding of biological research outcomes (processes, diseases, or disorders). Assists in analyzing and interpreting data sets and contributes to the development of publications or presentations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field plus five (5) years experience extracting and preparing data for statistical analysis
  • Strong technical skills in MS-SQL, MS-Access, Excel, and BI Tools.
  • Familiarity with Structured Query Language.
  • Knowledge of EPIC electronic medical records system.
  • Must have strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Knowledge of REDCap.
  • HIPAA
  • Familiarity with the health sciences, medicine, and statistics.

Responsibilities

  • Designs database architectures and infrastructure for the Multiple Myeloma Database (MMDB).
  • Manages the integration, collection and reporting of data; maintains appropriate documentation of data recording process.
  • Prepares reports and presents analytic output in various formats to key stakeholders.
  • Designs, implements and evaluates projects and data metrics to improve research data management and better utilize and integrate existing institutional electronic systems (i.e., EPIC).
  • Collaborates with leadership, policy, data, and research teams to develop optimal analytic strategies for synthesizing available data to support research.
  • Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
  • Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines.
  • Assists internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
