About The Position

Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for a Senior Data Analyst to join our Operational Finance department. This position is a full-time opportunity based out of our regional office located in Washington D.C. with a hybrid work model. Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group is comprised of more than 1,700 Permanente physicians and nearly 300 staff professionals who come together to make a positive impact on the health and lives of more than 800,000 members in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Reporting to Risk Adjustment Manager, the Senior Data Analyst will act as a vital team member for the data analytic projects related to healthcare quality and risk adjustment initiatives. You will provide analytical and consulting support to MAPMG leadership in making strategic decisions by analyzing, manipulating, tracking, internally managing and reporting data. You will also work with multiple data systems to extract and analyze information, prepare comprehensive analyses, and present comprehensive operational and financial reports with written summaries to organizational leadership. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, or related quantitative field is required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in data analytics is required; Experience with healthcare data analytics is strongly preferred
  • Experience with Python, Oracle SQL, and SAS is required, including data manipulation, analysis, and reporting
  • Experience building interactive dashboards and data visualizations using Power BI; experience with Tableau is a plus
  • Experience working with large databases or data warehouses, including analytical manipulation and interpretation, is required
  • Ability to interpret and translate analytical findings into clear, actionable insights in a business and clinical context
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Must be able to commute to the Capitol Hill, Washington D.C. office on an as-needed basis
  • Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
  • Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment. Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting risk adjustment, quality measurement, or population health analytics is a plus, but not required
  • Experience with Databricks or cloud-based data platforms for scalable data processing and analytics is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform prescriptive and advanced analysis for problem-solving to facilitate decision making by extracting, cleaning, summarizing, tabulating, and formatting data from Epic EMR databases and clinical data systems using SQL, Python, SAS, and Power BI/Tableau
  • Lead complex data analytics projects focused on healthcare quality measures, risk adjustment initiatives, and performance improvement efforts
  • Develop complex clinical reports analyzing utilization, performance, and efficiency regarding patient care in specific service areas using SAS, SQL, Python, Tableau, and Power BI
  • Design and automate analytical reports for KP Medical Group in the Mid-Atlantic region using Databricks, Python workflows, SAS, and Oracle SQL to improve efficiency and support evolving business requirements
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders – including medical directors, physicians, and business partners – to gather requirements and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to data structures and reporting processes; drive innovation in analytics through proof-of-concept development and modernization of existing methodologies
