About The Position

The Senior Data Analyst leads end‑to‑end analytics initiatives that inform strategic and operational decisions across the transportation industry. This role partners closely with business leaders to define success metrics, uncover performance drivers, and recommend actions supported by rigorous analysis. The Senior Data Analyst leverages business intelligence and analytics tools (Tableau, Python, T‑SQL) and works across data sources—including TMS, Azure, Data Warehouse, and Data Lake environments—to deliver trusted, scalable reporting and insights.

Requirements

  • Advanced analytics & BI expertise: Deep experience building scalable dashboards and analytical products in Tableau, with strong data storytelling skills.
  • SQL & data modeling: Expert‑level T‑SQL skills, including query optimization; experience working with dimensional models and curated datasets in Data Warehouse/Data Lake environments.
  • Python for analysis/automation: Proficiency using Python for analysis, repeatable workflows, and light automation (pandas, notebooks, data validation).
  • Problem framing & execution: Ability to independently translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical approaches that drive action.
  • Stakeholder partnership & influence: Strong communication skills and experience presenting recommendations to leadership.
  • Quality, governance & security mindset: Commitment to data integrity, documentation, and responsible handling of sensitive information.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field—or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years in analytics, business intelligence, or a related role (transportation/logistics experience preferred).
  • Hands‑on experience with Tableau, SQL, Azure, and enterprise data platforms; familiarity with TMS is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own core performance metrics and reporting definitions (KPI governance), ensuring consistency across dashboards, recurring reporting, and stakeholder communication.
  • Lead complex analytics projects from problem definition through delivery (e.g., carrier performance, on time service, cost‑to‑serve, network efficiency), translating insights into clear recommendations and measurable outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain executive‑ready dashboards and self‑service reporting in Tableau, including performance optimization, documentation, and user enablement.
  • Perform advanced analysis using SQL and Python (trend analysis, segmentation, forecasting, root‑cause analysis) to identify drivers, quantify tradeoffs, and prioritize initiatives.
  • Partner with Data Engineering/IT to improve data availability and reliability across TMS, Azure, and enterprise data platforms.
  • Communicate findings effectively to both technical and non‑technical audiences, tailoring narratives and visuals to influence decisions at all levels.
  • Mentor and support other analysts by promoting best practices in SQL, visualization design, and analytical rigor.
