About The Position

ASSYST is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Trainer SME to join our engineering team for our upcoming project with our federal client in Washington DC The Senior Trainer Subject Matter Expert (SME) is a senior-level professional with extensive expertise in cybersecurity who is responsible for the design, delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement of cybersecurity education and training programs. This role serves as the authoritative source for training content, ensuring technical accuracy, instructional quality, and alignment with current cybersecurity standards, policies, and best practices. The SME provides strategic guidance, validates training materials, mentors instructors, and leads training initiatives in support of organizational and contract objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a significant focus on education, training, or workforce development.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering advanced cybersecurity training programs.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, threats, risk management, and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to serve as an authoritative technical resource and validate instructional content.
  • Experience mentoring instructors or leading training teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and instructional skills for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert for cybersecurity education and training across the contract.
  • Design, develop, and update cybersecurity training curricula, course materials, labs, and learning aids to address evolving threats, technologies, and compliance requirements.
  • Deliver instructor-led, virtual, and/or hybrid cybersecurity training sessions to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Validate training content for technical accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness prior to delivery.
  • Lead training initiatives, including curriculum modernization, new course development, and instructional improvements.
  • Provide expert guidance to program leadership on training strategies, learning outcomes, and workforce development needs.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics, and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure training aligns with applicable federal policies, standards, and frameworks (e.g., NIST, NICE, DoD, DHS, or agency-specific requirements).
  • Support audits, reviews, and reporting related to training compliance and performance as required by the contract.
