The Senior Cyber Security Engineer is a key technical leader within the global Digital Business Technology team, responsible for driving security architecture decisions and providing strategic direction for the organization's security posture. This role requires deep expertise across multiple security domains, demonstrated leadership ability, and proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise-scale security solutions across cloud and on-premises environments.

  • Leads the design and implementation of enterprise security architecture across multi-cloud and hybrid environments
  • Architects and oversees implementation of complex security solutions that align with business objectives and compliance requirements
  • Provides technical leadership and mentorship to junior security engineers and cross-functional teams
  • Develops and maintains security roadmaps, standards, and best practices for the organization
  • Leads security incident response planning and execution for critical incidents
  • Drives continuous improvement of security operations through automation and process optimization
  • Evaluates emerging security threats and technologies to enhance organizational security posture
  • Architects zero-trust security models and implements modern identity solutions across the enterprise
  • Leads security design reviews for major initiatives and provides strategic technical guidance
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key security vendors and partners
  • Creates and maintains security frameworks aligned with industry standards (NIST, CMMC, etc.)
  • Provides expert consultation on complex security challenges across the organization
  • Leads security compliance initiatives and interfaces with auditors and assessors
  • Develops and delivers security awareness and technical training programs
  • Influences security strategy and investment decisions through risk analysis and business impact assessments
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 8 – 12 years' experience in enterprise security engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior technical role
  • Advanced knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (NIST, CMMC, DFARS, ITAR)
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale security initiatives and architectural decisions
  • Expert knowledge of Windows, Linux, and MacOS operating systems and enterprise networking concepts
  • Experience leading incident response for critical security events
  • Strong technical writing skills for documentation and policy development
  • Demonstrated experience with: Enterprise security architecture and zero-trust implementation Cloud security and IAM platforms (e.g., Azure AD, AWS IAM) Advanced threat detection and response platforms Security Orchestration and Automated Response (SOAR) platforms API security architecture and secure development practices Next-generation firewalls and IDS/IPS systems Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions Advanced forensics and incident response Privileged Access Management (PAM) systems Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) tools Vulnerability management and assessment platforms Infrastructure automation and orchestration tools Virtual infrastructure management platforms
  • U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) required.
  • Occasionally may be required to travel within the Continental U.S.
  • ITAR Requirement: T his position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction. Please understand that any job offer that requires approval of an export license will be conditional on AeroVironment’s determination that it will be able to obtain an export license in a time frame consistent with AeroVironment’s business requirements. A “U.S. person” according to the ITAR definition is a U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or protected individual such as a refugee or asylee. See 22 CFR § 120.15.
  • Some positions will require current U.S. Citizenship due to contract requirements.
  • Secret or Top Secret clearance, or the ability obtain a clearance is desired.
  • Master's degree in related field preferred
  • Security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or CISM highly desired
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor technical teams

  • Strong project management and organizational skills
