About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Cyber Security Engineer with a strong technical background to support ATO and system security engineering activities. This role requires hands-on experience implementing, validating, and monitoring security controls, along with the ability to work with development and operations teams to embed security into system design and deployment.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of system security engineering, vulnerability management, and incident response.
• Experience supporting ATO efforts through technical evidence collection and control validation.
• Familiarity with cloud and containerized environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, Kubernetes).
• Ability to analyze system configurations and recommend security improvements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5-7 years cybersecurity experience.
• Security certifications such as Security+, GSEC, CISSP, or AWS Security Specialty.
• US Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with automated compliance tools (e.g., OpenSCAP, STIG compliance, IaC security tools).
• Knowledge of network and endpoint security, SIEM solutions, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Familiarity with federal risk management frameworks and FedRAMP control baselines.

Responsibilities

• Implement and validate security controls across applications, networks, and cloud environments in support of ATO packages.
• Conduct vulnerability scanning, configuration reviews, and security testing to identify and remediate risks.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security best practices into system architecture and DevSecOps pipelines.
• Document and maintain evidence of control implementation and testing for ATO submissions.
• Assist in continuous monitoring activities, including log review, incident response, and POA&M updates.
• Mentor junior engineers on technical security practices and compliance alignment.
• Provide recommendations to system owners and program managers for improving security posture.
