About The Position

The Senior Custodian position at UC San Diego involves performing essential cleaning and maintenance tasks for the University Centers facilities, ensuring a clean and safe environment for students and staff. This role requires working night shifts and includes responsibilities such as operating various cleaning equipment, maintaining cleanliness in large facilities, and submitting reports related to custodial duties.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience performing skilled custodial duties.
• Experience operating and maintaining cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and high-pressure washers.
• Experience in floor care including stripping, waxing, and buffing.
• Experience in carpet care including spot cleaning and shampooing.
• Ability to read and interpret written information and instructions.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills to work with a diverse group of students, staff, and faculty.
• Ability to safely lift, move, and carry a minimum load of 75 lbs.
• Valid California driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning tasks for the University Centers facilities, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming.
• Extract, shampoo, and spin bonnet carpets as needed.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, pick up trash, and operate trash compactor.
• Submit daily shift summary reports and work orders for maintenance needs.
• Secure buildings and equipment when not in use and restock cleaning supplies.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs of custodial equipment.
