About The Position

As a Senior Critical Environment Technician (SCET) in Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, you will be responsible for maintaining the critical infrastructure of our datacenters, ensuring their operational efficiency and safety. This role involves hands-on work with critical environment equipment, coordinating with vendors, and responding to onsite incidents. You will also utilize telemetry and monitoring platforms to oversee equipment performance, contributing to the delivery of core infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND 3+ years of experience in mission critical services or related fields.
  • 1+ year(s) experience in a specialized area (e.g., mechanical, electrical, controls).
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND 5+ years of mission critical services experience.
  • Associate's Degree or technical trade certification with 4+ years of mission-critical services experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure proper maintenance and operation of critical infrastructure.
  • Recognize and address safe versus unsafe work environments.
  • Perform various types of maintenance and repairs on critical environment equipment independently.
  • Monitor equipment performance using telemetry and other platforms, analyzing trends and identifying potential issues.
  • Lead incident response teams during onsite incidents, coordinating with other critical facilities professionals.
  • Develop and follow emergency operating procedures (EOPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for incident management.
  • Provide training and mentorship to less experienced colleagues on critical environment systems and maintenance tasks.
  • Document maintenance activities and equipment performance in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Conduct inspections and validations of equipment performance and safety compliance.
