A Senior Credit Underwriter has been credit-trained and has at least 7 years of experience. The position is responsible for gathering and analyzing credit information on current and potential borrowers; determine the advisability of granting credit for diversified types of loans; assists loan officers as well as junior credit analysts in writing loan presentations for approval; promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services when applicable.

Requirements

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have adequate familiarity with MS Word and Excel.
  • Has been credit-trained and has at least 7 years credit or lending experience.
  • Strong organizational, management, communication and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Underwriting new loan business, annual reviews, as well as renewals/modifications.
  • Majority of work will be commercial in nature (versus consumer).
  • Attend customer calls / meetings when appropriate.
  • Play a role in the loan decision making process.
  • Assist with the coordination of loan portfolio reviews, audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Supervisory Responsibility (junior credit analysts - when applicable).
  • Assist with oversight of the credit function (reporting, stress testing, covenant testing, credit file maintenance, etc)
  • Monthly tracking and maintenance of Borrower Financial Statement Tickler Report and Financial Covenant Tracking Report, along with calculation and compliance. Follow-up with Relationship Managers to obtain required information, and prepare and process the Financial Statement Cover Memo.
  • Attain proficiency in Moody's Lending Cloud software (including financial spreading, global cash flows and rent roll modules, among others as needed) and fluency in Bank's Credit Policy, particularly with legal lending limit thresholds, general authority approval levels, and underwriting guidelines among other policies.
  • Assist Credit Officer with coordination of loan portfolio reviews, audits and regulatory reviews throughout the year.
