About The Position

The Senior Credit Underwriter evaluates credit applications, analyze financial data, approve transactions within individual authority and make recommendations regarding the creditworthiness of applicants. Responsibilities include for spreading financial statements, evaluating financial trends and ratios, and preparing credit memorandums to support their decisions and recommendations within desired timeframes. This role helps to mitigate risks associated with credit transactions by ensuring that loans and leases are structured appropriately and comply with credit policy as well as regulatory requirements. Additionally, the Senior Credit Underwriter serves as mentors to junior staff and collaborate with various departments to facilitate smooth operations. Goal is to protect the financial interests of the organization by minimizing losses while maintaining positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 7+ years' experience in commercial credit underwriting or similar roles.
  • BA/BS required with concentrations in accounting or finance.
  • Ability to understand and negotiate legal contract verbiage.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with multitasking abilities.
  • Self-starter capable of working with little supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal credit training is preferred.
  • Experience in transportation lending/leasing preferred.
  • Experience with Vision Leasing Software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review large-ticket credit applications (> $750,000) and supporting documents.
  • Spread financial statements and tax returns, analyze financial trends and ratios, and prepare credit memorandums.
  • Determine creditworthiness based on financial metrics, credit reports, and due diligence.
  • Calculate loan/lease payments accurately.
  • Work with Documentation/Closing and Counsel to review documentation.
  • Serve as backup to Credit Manager and mentor Credit Analysts.
  • Interact directly with customers and discuss financial/operational trends.
  • Collaborate with other departments and maintain a customer-focused mentality.
  • Complete assigned projects or duties from Credit Manager or Executive Manager within expected timeframes.
