About The Position

Independently assesses the quality and risk of the organization's loan portfolio. This role conducts the loan review process for commercial and retail loan files, ensuring adherence to internal policies, underwriting standards, and regulatory requirements. It serves as a key liaison with lending, credit staff and management and provides insights that influence credit risk strategies. Supports a comprehensive and proactive approach to risk management by providing an independent oversight of credit risk within the loan portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Six years' experience in commercial or consumer credit review, audit, credit analysis, or lending, within a financial institution, or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through a minimum of 8 years related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts in-depth reviews of commercial and retail loan files to assess credit quality and compliance with underwriting standards.
  • Documents findings from internal credit reviews and reports exceptions or deficiencies to management, recommending corrective actions where necessary.
  • Obtains management responses from lending and credit management.
  • Liaises with other team members within the organization to clarify and resolve loan review findings.
  • Recommends updates to credit policies to control credit risk.
  • Performs industry analyses and risk assessments in order to preserve credit quality and minimize risk to Magnifi Financial.
  • Verifies that loans adhere to applicable internal credit policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Identifies credit weaknesses, policy exceptions, documentation issues, or trends.
  • Analyzes loan portfolio credit risk characteristics to detect trends or potential problem loans within the loan portfolio.
  • Monitors and reports on existing and emerging risks in loan portfolio.
  • Supports policy updates by researching regulatory changes and industry standards.
  • Operates with a high degree of initiative and independence, managing day-to-day responsibilities and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency with minimal oversight.
  • Creates reports, industry, and loan portfolio analyses for management and Credit Committee to assist with monitoring credit quality and minimize risk to Magnifi Financial.
  • Communicates results of analyses to the Credit Committee in the absence of the Vice President of Credit Review.
  • Participates in credit meetings and various other meetings and work groups with other departments within the organization.
  • Creates and delivers credit review reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Reviews internal reports for identifying miscoded loans and submits requests to update.
  • Assists with reporting and data validation as needed to effectively monitor the loan portfolio.
  • Supports internal and external audit and exam processes by collecting and organizing required documentation.
  • Actively participates in community relations' efforts to contribute to the mission and visibility of Magnifi Financial.
