About The Position

Own the design, maintenance, and governance of Wayflyer’s credit risk policies and frameworks across all customer segments, ensuring they enable growth while maintaining strong credit discipline. Translate Wayflyer’s risk appetite into actionable and measurable frameworks, covering underwriting, portfolio management, exposure limits, and approval authorities. Lead the periodic review of credit policies, exposure caps, and delegated authorities, ensuring alignment with business goals, funding partner requirements, and market conditions. Act as the key liaison between Risk, Finance, Legal, and Revenue teams to ensure that all policies are practical, compliant, and support scalable credit growth. Build governance structures (committees, review cadence, escalation pathways) to embed credit risk management into daily operations. Provide analytical and strategic input to senior leadership on credit performance trends and policy implications. Support new product development and market entry initiatives by designing frameworks that align new offerings with Wayflyer’s risk appetite. Lead continuous improvement of credit policies and frameworks by leveraging portfolio data, loss experience, and emerging industry best practices.

Requirements

  • 6 to 8+ years of experience in credit risk management, policy design, or risk governance, ideally in fintech, alternative lending, or commercial banking.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining credit policies or frameworks for SME, Ecommerce, or trade finance portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of credit underwriting principles, portfolio management, and regulatory/risk frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, able to translate risk concepts into actionable frameworks and policies.
  • Skilled at cross-functional collaboration, working closely with Product, Finance, Legal, and Data teams.
  • Experience in reviewing credit performance data and using insights to adjust policy parameters.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to balance structure and agility in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with structured finance or warehouse funding arrangements.
  • Familiarity with working capital products such as MCAs, STLs and LOCs.
  • Exposure to the e-commerce sector and the funding needs of the e-commerce clients.
  • Exposure to data-driven credit scoring and automated decisioning.
  • Advanced degree or certification in finance, economics, or risk (CFA, FRM, or similar).
