About The Position

The Senior Credit Policy & Risk Analyst will play a foundational role in building and scaling Anza’s credit governance framework. Reporting to the Head of Credit Policy, this role sits at the intersection of credit policy interpretation, exception management, pricing alignment, and GSE change implementation. This position is responsible for supporting consistent, defensible application of Anza’s underwriting and servicing guidelines while helping ensure that incremental or emerging risk is identified, escalated, and appropriately priced. The role is not limited to reviewing individual scenarios, it contributes to shaping how Anza defines and evolves its credit box and manages credit risk. This is an opportunity to build within a growing Risk organization and to have direct visibility into how credit policy, pricing, QC, underwriting, and operational execution align to support responsible growth.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in mortgage underwriting, credit policy, QC, mortgage insurance operations, or related credit risk functions
  • Strong knowledge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Selling Guide requirements
  • Experience evaluating layered credit risk and navigating gray-area credit decisions
  • Ability to document clear, consistent policy interpretations and exception rationales
  • Exposure to pricing considerations or risk-based decision frameworks
  • Comfort analyzing structured data and with working knowledge of basic SQL or similar querying tools
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to operate independently in a startup environment
  • Collaborative mindset with experience partnering in a cross-functional operation

Responsibilities

  • Support the interpretation and application of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac credit guidelines
  • Analyze and document policy interpretations and true credit exceptions
  • Maintain centralized decision logs and precedent tracking
  • Identify emerging gray-area trends and recommend guidance updates
  • Evaluate whether policy interpretations or exceptions introduce incremental risk outside priced assumptions
  • Prepare structured escalation summaries for pricing review when needed
  • Monitor trends in pricing-impacting decisions
  • Assist in monitoring and summarizing GSE guideline updates
  • Support translation of policy changes into internal procedures and system requirements
  • Maintain change logs and implementation tracking
  • Help develop and maintain reporting on: Exception volume types Pricing-impacting scenarios Discretionary QC feedback themes
  • Identify patterns that may indicate credit box drift
  • Partner closely with Underwriting, QC, Pricing, Operations and Product teams
  • Support development of scalable workflows
