About The Position

The Senior Credit Analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago plays a crucial role in supporting the core business activities of Credit Risk Management, including Discount Window, Reserve Analysis, and Payments System Risk. This position requires advanced knowledge and experience to ensure effective daily operations while adhering to established policies and risk requirements. The analyst will engage in complex data analysis, provide training to junior staff, and interact with senior management of depository institutions, making tactical decisions that impact project teams and contribute to strategic decision-making processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of related work experience, or 7 to 10 years of accounting, business, or finance experience in lieu of education requirement.
  • Knowledge of the PSR Policy, Regulation D, and Lending Policy.
  • Knowledge of financial concepts and banking regulations (Regulations D, A, J, K, and Y).
  • Broad knowledge of banking operations and financial markets.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines while balancing competing priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong presentation and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and accept change.
  • Advanced knowledge of business-related software applications, with preference for analytical skills and programming languages including Python, R, SQL, and Java.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with financial analysis and collateral evaluation.
  • Familiarity with Federal Reserve's Operating Circulars.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in and may lead operations-related System work groups and projects to implement System policies, practices, and programs.
  • Collects and organizes data for report preparation and analysis.
  • Interprets information and reviews data to make decisions and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Performs analysis of highly complex data and prepares briefings and reports relating to department activities.
  • Delivers briefings, presentations, and communications to key decision-makers on Federal Reserve Bank and System matters.
  • Fields, researches, and responds to complex regulatory and operations-related questions from depository institutions, examiners, and Board Staff.
  • Independently researches and performs advanced analysis on topics related to payments activity, collateral evaluation, and financial analysis.
  • Reviews data and creates complex queries to monitor updates to institution information and develops improvements to current processes.
