About The Position

The position of Senior Credit Analyst is responsible for reviewing financial information taken from the lending officers and the various Credit Analysts, where applicable; making sure the loan request follows Bank guidelines; making sure that the credit request is worthy and provides summary of findings when the loan is presented for approval. The primary responsibility is for loan reviews on loans that are for $500,000 or greater or on customers whose total loan exposure is $1,000,000 or greater. Primary focus would be for larger, more complex loan reviews generally $5,000,000 or greater.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum required with additional degree level or direct work related training a plus. Work related experience should consist of duties in a business environment.
  • Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
  • 5 or more years in direct financial analysis work with emphasis on complex loan underwriting required. Experience in underwriting for loans in Commercial Real Estate, Commercial and Industrial and Asset Based Lending. Understanding of complex borrowing structures, consolidated and consolidating financial presentations, financial ratio analysis and the ability to develop global underwriting analysis across a number of related borrowing entities including global cash flow analysis and a review of repayment capacity for borrowers.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Bank operations, products and services; related state and federal laws and regulations, and other Bank operational policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills – ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing, spreadsheet and specialty software programs.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Takes information that the lending officers and Credit Analyst has prepared, and reviews for credit worthiness, adherence to credit standards and guidelines.
  • Provides information to the Regional Credit Officer or higher Credit Officer concerning any negative trends in the loan portfolio.
  • Reviews the loan structure of the proposed loan.
  • Assists loan officers in performing pre-qualifications assessment and analysis of financial condition and risk of requests within the framework of Bank credit culture and current economic and industries trends.
  • Assists loan officers in preparing spreadsheets and analyzes financial information including financial statements and tax returns.
  • Answers questions from external auditors and state and federal regulators, where appropriate.
  • Works closely with Credit Administration on examining the findings from periodic loan reviews or regulatory examinations.
  • Helps to develop continued education for lending personnel and provide commentary for process improvement. Capable of providing leadership for special projects in the Credit area as needed and offer mentoring and guidance for more junior or inexperienced analysts on their team.
  • Conducts industry peer comparisons, performs cash flow analyses and other such tasks and comparisons.
  • Develops knowledge of financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates and competition.
  • Reinforces the application of superior customer service through his or her own example along with appropriate follow through with employees.
  • Operates computer terminal or personal computer to obtain and process data.
  • Answers telephones, answers questions from lending officers.
  • Performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.
  • Assists with on-going computerization of the loan review function.
  • Assists in training sessions for the lending officers when needed.
  • Completes annual compliance courses.
  • Adheres specifically to all corporate policies and procedures. Also adheres to Federal and State regulations and laws; including, the Bank Secrecy Act and the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

  • Performs other duties as required.
