About The Position

This role is for Vice President level candidates. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW: The Americas Division (“AD”) was established in the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, New York Branch (“SMTBNY”) to perform corporate functions and supervise U.S. entities. Established under the AD are the “Global Banking Unit (“GBU”), Americas Division” and “Global Markets Unit (“GMU”), Americas Division” which performs business functions. The Real Estate Finance Department (“REF”) is responsible for originating, booking and monitoring credit facilities for both bilateral and syndicated loan transactions. REF focuses on building and monitoring portfolio assets in Real Estate product area. Your Role Overview: Responsible for credit evaluation and deal maintenance.

Requirements

  • MBA degree or equivalent with 7-10 years of experience in lending or a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business or economics with 7-10 years of related experience, CFA preferred.
  • Capable of executing client requests and meetings. Contributes to the development of more junior staff.
  • Advanced in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Access).
  • Strong knowledge of the bank, its products and services. Applies knowledge in area of specialization to produce "value-added" results.
  • Contributes to and/or influences unit revenue generation and profitability. Understands the impact of expenses on the Bank's bottom line and acts accordingly to minimize expenses.
  • Responsible for compliance in area of responsibility. Identifies and understands the risks and laws involved in the department's operations.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews potential assets in assigned products/industries and prepares credit applications and makes investment recommendations.
  • Responsible for business development, relationship management, transaction structuring, and document negotiation. This will include leading transactions.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable investment guidelines and directives from Head Office and Branch Management.
  • Monitors assigned assets/products/industries to maintain credit quality through asset/product/industry appropriate measures, i.e., financial analysis and trends, cross-sectional analysis, cashflow analysis and market value/liquidity, which may include attending client meetings or performing site visits.
  • Prepares all applications and reports and makes recommendations on all amendments, refinancings and other ongoing activities as designated.
  • Responsible for all Head Office and Branch monitoring and reporting requirements, including rating review, business review of documentation, regulatory review, booking and financial and portfolio review requirements, with support from Operations Analyst as designated.
  • May be responsible for the development and training of credit analysts.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
