About The Position

The position is responsible for evaluating loan requests typically between $10,000,000 - $20,000,000 for appropriate structure and acceptable use of loan funds. The role involves providing an independent analysis of credit quality for the most complex loan relationships at the bank to determine the borrower's financial condition and ability to repay. The focus is on middle market, upper middle market, syndications, shared national credits, complex participations, and land acquisition and development loans, particularly with REITs and Asset Based Lending transactions. The position also includes reviewing credit facility requests for compliance with corporate policies and government regulations, preparing credit approval documents, assigning risk ratings, mentoring junior analysts, and providing training on specialized products.

Requirements

  • Requires a four-year college degree or equivalent with specialization in accounting, finance, or economics with a minimum of six hours in accounting.
  • Requires ten plus years of general business experience.
  • Requires ten plus years of specialized experience in credit analysis, REITs, and ABL transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Determine whether information submitted for underwriting meets bank policy and procedures as well as regulatory requirements for commercial credit applications.
  • Research and accurately interpret commercial loan documentation, agreements, leases, contracts, and other technical documentation.
  • Review loan terms and conditions and transaction sources and uses for complex requests to determine appropriateness of loan structure.
  • Conduct background checks and credit bureau inquiries to prevent fraud and assess the overall character of credit applicants.
  • Analyze higher-risk and/or specialized industries common in commercial lending transactions.
  • Utilize advanced financial and quantitative analyses techniques to evaluate financial information.
  • Interpret and resolve complex financial problems and questions.
  • Recommend appropriate financial covenant structures for larger commercial loan transactions.
  • Identify significant credit issues during the underwriting process.
  • Prepare underwriting documents for executive management approval.
  • Assign appropriate risk ratings to proposed loan transactions.
  • Occasionally accompany lending officers on calls with significant commercial loan customers.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to Credit Analyst I, II, and III employees.
  • Conduct periodic training for analysts on specialized products.
  • Manage a credit team in the absence of Credit Vertical Managers.
  • Assume additional duties as requested, including special projects.
  • Conduct annual due diligence of banks engaged in buy-side or sell-side participations or syndications.
